Repair of oro-antral communication

The patient was referred to our clinic for extraction of upper left molar due to possible communication with the sinus.
Upon extraction communication with the sinus was identified. The socket was thoroughly debrided and a resorbable collagen membrane was used to repair the site. The patient was instructed not to use her removable prosthesis for 2 weeks.

However at post op visit, oro-antral communication was present. The patient was put on antibiotics for 10 days and a surgical repair of the communication took place.
1 month post surgery the site healed uneventfully with no signs of communication or sinus problems.

Thank you,
Yiannis

Gingival Recession Treatment utilizing a Connective Tissue Graft

In this video we described a modified double papillae flap in combination with a connective tissue graft.

This is a very predictable technique that can be utilized when the adjacent papillae are large enough, or when we have abundant keratinized tissue surrounding the recession area.

The connective tissue graft was utilized in order to increase the predictability of the treatment outcome and also to increase the thickness of the tissue. Since the affected tooth was a canine the esthetic outcome will be better if we are able to recreate the natural prominence of the soft tissue in this area.

Best,
Ioannis
